Intertrochanteric fracture femur
Intertrochanteric fracture is often seen in elderly population after a trivial fall. It can also occur in young population after major accidents. Most of these cases are managed by fixation by Dynamic Hip Screw ( DHS )or Proximal Femoral Nail (PFN). In elderly age group these fractures are often complicated by comminution and osteoporosis, in such cases the option of hemiarthroplasty may also be considered.
